How to distinguish generator fault from sound

There are signs of a diesel generator failure, some of which can be heard. Chongqing Baolai Power Generation Equipment Co., Ltd. has summarized the following details to help everyone master the method of judging the failure of the unit by sound.

In the early days of diesel generator development, it was noisy and emitted black smoke, and could only be used on agricultural machinery that required large traction. With the development of diesel engine technology, many imported cars now have diesel engine models to choose from. Well-designed diesel engines sound much more pleasant, because they are different from gasoline engines in structural characteristics, so it is easy to judge where the fault is by some characteristic sounds.

(1) The diesel engine makes regular and continuous noises, which usually means that the rotating parts are faulty. If there are continuous knocking sounds, they often occur in the timing gear, flywheel and other parts.

(2) The diesel engine makes irregular intermittent noises, which usually means that the engine accessories are faulty, such as the generator, starter, air compressor, water pump, etc., which are not installed firmly or are scratched and make noises inside.

(3) If the diesel engine makes an abnormal noise once every one revolution, it is usually caused by a fault in the crankshaft-related parts, such as the piston, piston pin, piston ring and connecting rod bearing.

(4) If the diesel engine makes an abnormal noise once every two revolutions, it is usually caused by a fault in the camshaft-related parts, such as the valve, push rod, valve spring and timing gear.

Through the above introduction, everyone can have a general understanding of the sound of the unit. In daily operation, once an abnormal sound is heard during power generation, it can be easily determined which part of the unit has a problem, and the maintenance work can be more targeted.
